We are both incredibly grateful for being brought up in happy homes filled with lots of love and laughter from family and friends alike. We are each the product of the prayers of so many, and are privileged to have benefited from hours of advice, wisdom and guidance. We sincerely thank you for all your support thus far, and we really appreciate all you’ve done for us. We are so excited for our future and the adventures it will bring. We look forward to seeing you on May 18th 2015, and can’t wait to celebrate our big day with you!
My man (whom you may know as one or more of David, Reuben, Roobs etc.) is everything I’ve ever wanted and needed in a partner and more. Apart from being God-fearing, ambitious, generous, caring and a good cook, David constantly surprises me by fulfilling aspects and demonstrating qualities that I’d never even thought (let alone prayed) about before. In some ways, our relationship started as a leap of faith, but our journey has proven to be the greatest blessing and thrill of my life. David is the kind of guy who always puts his best foot forward and gives everything that he has. He goes a million extra miles not just to provide for his own but to help anyone in need. His dedication, loyalty, love and support are grounded in his faith, reflected in his smile, and go beyond any fairy-tale construct that I could have conjured up. He inspires me to be the best version of myself and the woman that God intends for me to be.
I’m not really sure where or how to even begin explaining “us”. Debbie came into my life completely out of the blue, pretty much at a time where I’d given up on finding love, but I’m left with no doubt that God brought her into my life for a reason… to be my wife (one day). In finding her, I now have a completely different realisation of how much God understands me, and fully appreciate just how many of my prayers he’s heard, because to me Debbie has been the perfect answer to countless prayers. Debbie is everything I’m not, and as cliché as it sounds completes the areas of my life that have been lacking. It has been truly amazing getting to know her thus far and I’m at a loss to describe just how much I’m looking forward to the future we can spend together… It’s clear for most people to see that I think she’s pretty special, and I’ll gladly spend my life trying to show her just how much she means to me.
The ceremony will begin at 2:00 pm at the Maple Ridge Alliance Church. The address of the church is 20399 Dewdney Trunk Rd, Maple Ridge, BC V2X 3E2. The church has ample parking which can be accessed from 203 Street, or Dewdney Trunk Rd.
Immediately after the ceremony, we ask that all guests proceed to the reception at Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club for photos and hors d'oeuvres (beginning at around 4pm), with dinner to follow around 5:30pm.
Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club is located at 16651 Rannie Rd, Pitt Meadows, BC V3Y 1Z1. There is ample parking available on site, but please note that the country club is a short walk from the car park, so you may wish to drop off passengers at the door before parking your vehicle.
We really appreciate you making the effort to come and share in our celebrations. We have provided some details below regarding flights, accommodation, and local attractions to assist in your travel planning and ultimate stay in beautiful British Columbia.
We have noted a number of common ports of departure for our wedding guests and would be more than happy to try and co-ordinate travellers to help obtain better rates or group bookings. While we can make no promises, please do not hesitate to email us at email@example.com with your preferred travel dates and the number of travellers, we will try our best to help you find the best fares possible. If you prefer a more customized itinerary, please read on for further pricing information and travel tips.
At present, Air Transat has flights leaving from London Gatwick on the 14th of May, returning on 21st of May for £461 including taxes. Click here for further details and other dates. Air Transat also has direct flights between Manchester, UK and Vancouver.
Alternatively, British Airways and Air Canada are the only other airlines who will fly to Vancouver directly from the UK. Some airlines may offer routes via the USA for a lower price, but be aware you will be required to clear customs in the USA and Canada on both the outbound and incoming legs of your journey.
While you may wish to rent a car during your stay in Canada, please note that Canadians drive on the “other” side of the road.
For individuals flying in and out of Toronto, the most cost-effective tickets will likely be obtained from the charter airline Sunwing (although travel dates will likely be limited).
Air Canada and WestJet also have a number of domestic flight options (for approximately $600-700 CAD including taxes) for departures from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
For American travellers who plan to hire a car in Vancouver, you may wish to consider flying into Seattle and using a hire car to drive the last leg into Vancouver (around a 3hr hour drive) as the airfare and overall duration seem to be less than trying to fly into Vancouver directly. However, if you pursue this option, please be mindful of the potentially unpredictable border crossing time, particular if you’re hoping to return home on Tuesday, May 19th, 2015.
We appreciate that many of you will be travelling to make it to our wedding, so we have set up a group discount code with Avis for anyone interested in renting a car during your stay. The value of the discount will depend on the vehicle reserved, so you may want to consider a few options. Please follow the link below to make your booking. The discount will apply to bookings made from now on for vehicle rentals between the 4th - 27th of May 2015. If you click the link below the Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) will automatically be applied to your reservation, alternatively the AWD number is D374571.
We know a number of you are considering accommodation options in various cities/suburbs in the ‘greater’ Vancouver area, so we've put together a map to help you get a better sense of where things are located relative to each other.
For international travellers and those looking to do more sightseeing during your stay, we would recommend staying in downtown Vancouver. From here you’ll be able to explore most of the city with relative ease. The church is approximately an hours drive from downtown Vancouver, so please bear that in mind on the big day, as we wouldn’t want you to be late!
For those guests who are flying in solely for the wedding and/or are looking to stay close to the Asirvatham family home or the wedding venues, accommodation options in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows or Maple Ridge may be preferable. Accommodations in these locations are typically more cost-effective than hotels in the city centre.
Please feel free to also check for online deals at these and other locations. If you are interested in multi-room accommodations or something a little less structured, you may wish to rent an apartment/house for your stay in Vancouver. We would recommend using Airbnb for this, and if you signup here you’ll receive a credit towards your first booking.
